Changing Front Sprocket

Hi guys, I have introduced my self on the intro post for the forum. I have a question regarding changing my front sprocket on my 2004 KDX 220R. Is there any special thing I need to be aware of when changing the front sprocket? or is it pretty much as simple as taking the the nut and stuff off in order of their mounting? my nut looks like it's got little teeth or something on the corner of the main nut. Just curious, I tried searching but there are far too many pages showing up with sprocket related things but not changing the sprocket. Thanks for you reply's.

Your KDX does not have a nut holding on the countershaft sprocket. It is held on with only a circlip. Remove the two bolts holding on the case saver/sprocket guard, remove circlip, slide off old sprocket. Reverse to install.

Most KDX's have a circlip. What country was your bike sold to??

As SS109 said. Well that's how my 99 is anyway.

DO try to make yourself buy a new circlip. Some do not.

thanks guys, yeah, when I was looking at it I do see the circle clip, but there is a nut kind of thing in top of it. My bike was sold in Canada I am guessing. I was just making sure there wasn't going to be any surprises for me. That tends to be the case for me when doing any kind of work on vehicles.

Can you post a picture? Are you sure it's a KDX??
