I saw this at the beginning:

' i cant fit the freaking tool into the fork, with that big rod in the middle,'

..didn't see it addressed when I breezed through the rest of it.

How about this....there is NO 'big rod' in the middle when the oil level is checked.

The spring is out, the rod is collapsed...it's not 'in the way'.

Sorry if I missed something........

its the rod in the center, i think it is reffered in the manual as the piston.

This is the 'first one' shown on the site you mention:

The syringe body does not have to fit inside the fork tube...so it will not have a problem with the rod, the piston or anything else in the tube.

Cut the tubing to the measurement point you want. Measure the tubing from the bottom of the syringe. Take into account the curve of the tubing that you will have when you put it IN the fork tube. Obviously the rigid tubing in Phil's pic resolves that problem.

The point of dogging this issue: There was an obvious error in process stated in the beginning of this thread. I don't see that anyone addressed it. Yeah...it would seem intuitively obvious to the casual observer..but, if it got missed, this post should take care of it.

Capiche?

I hope this post was not too long, that it helped you out in some fashion. BTW...you can get the same setup from a feed store for a couple $.

Cheers!

Ryan wrote:As most of you know, the range the oil needs to be from the top of the fork is 85mm to 100mm. I am thinking to put it at about 90 or a tad less so i have some higher compression to make my forks a we bit stiffer.
Would this be what you mean CC ?? :hmm:

The patience of Job... Actually he was told all of that quite a while ago...granted by an unreliable source (me). It is comforting to know my 14 year old is not the only one that asks questions and ignores the answers

KayD: I dunno what I mean.

I run about 115-120mm. Obviously what most of everyone else knows, I have NO clue about.

I'm not surprised. I consider the source, TOO!

The picture of the syringe and all is a direct response to, 'The thing won't fit'. The intended oil level is beside the point. It appeared Ryan was trying to use the black thingy ON the syringe as a marker..trying to put the syringe IN the tube.

That's not necessary..thus nothing would be IN the way.
