found a few of these at my job the other day



not sure what they are called but they worked perfect for what I wanted...to fix my exhaust stays
the front one is extremely simple, you just disconnect the two pieces (one from the frame, one from the pipe) and cut the rubber from the one it is still one
then you just drill a hole in each of them and bolt the bumper in between

the upper one is a bit harder, if you try to bolt the bumper in between the OEM pieces the nut on the back will rub up against the tank so there you have to cut a new stay from stock and rotate the bottom to clear the tank

not sure what is going on with the lighting but you get the picture (yes pun intended)

Is this a part that is on the inventory list with your company's part #? If yes, you might ask the Purchasing Department for a vendor name and Purchasing Description. That way you'll know what it's called and who makes or sells it. With that info, the supplier should be able to tell you where they can be bought retail. I would bet this is something McMaster-Carr or Grainger already sells, or could get pretty easily.

no, it is something that we keep in the nuts and bolts cabinet to keep some of our ancient machines running

I did this on mine too picked one up at the local tractor supply has lasted for 3 years now with no signs of any problems soon.

yeah I have a couple of these on my bike, got mine at Grainger, but any industrial motor supply place, tractor supply, etc will carry them in different sizes

They are also available at chainsaw dealers. I have a few kicking around waiting to find a good use.

This is awesome. I need one for my '83, and I just wasn't willing to pay full price for a new one ($15!), or pay $35 for an eBay fasteners lot.

on a side note, mention should be made of this on the "got a new bike" thread because every KDX ive ever gotten had them broken

Not just the kdx either they're typically deteriorated and falling appart on all the older bikes

From what I have seen of the universal isolator mounts like you have posted they tend to be softer then the stock mounts. Good or bad I don't know. I have seen them separate from the stud many times but for the difference in price it sure is worth trying.

And there is a difference between cheap and DIY cheap. Cheap is not wanting to spend a lot of money on things. DIY cheap is trying to get a used part shipped to him that cost fifty cents new.

I did something very similar using stuff you can find at a local auto parts or hardware store, for cheap too
