I have the number off the original bulb. The Manufacturer is Koito, and it was an ink-stamp on the bottom of the flange that says "351" I tried searching the net to see if that is the model number, but haven't verified it yet.

going to bump this super old thread. My dealer wants to charge me 30 bucks for the bulb, have there been any advances in KDX bulbs? Can i got to an auto parts store and pick one up?

Fredette can get you one for like $7 or there was a thread on canadian daves forum about it that said you can get a $3-4 replacement but I forgot the number that I needed to find that thread. It took me about 30 minutes of searching so I just decided I would buy mine from FRP.

Also John Deere part number CH11439.

I bought a LED type 1156 style bulb that is REALLY bright but low current ( not cheap but will last a LONG time). I also bought a 1156 socket. I am planning to mount the socket into the stock headlight assy and wire it up as a replacement. The reason is that with the Baja Designs LED taillight assy, the combined load is much smaller than stock lighting and I think I can then put on LED turn signals and LED flasher assy as well. If i have done the math right I am still well within the light circuit output. I am making it street legal to run Enduros and in Ohio, the DMV Nazis are tough to deal with getting a plate for an "off road" motorcycle. BTW, I think I'll have a title that says "motorcycle" instead of 'OR" soon. Then plates the next day. I did have to use a super double secret way of getting around the DMV. I will still add the lights but not for a month or so. Michelin S-12's need to be mounted first.
I'll try to post pictures and part numbers if anyone is interested.

I am very interested in how you are planning to mount the socket into the stock headlight. Please keep us posted.

'You did read that post right??'

Yep.

And I read this one: 'My dealer wants to charge me 30 bucks for the bulb, have there been any advances in KDX bulbs?'

That a direct reference to dealer pricing with a question following about 'advances', which by way of the two items being in the same sentence means advances in regard to choices other than dealer.

That 'advance' had already been noted.

'Can i got to an auto parts store and pick one up?' was a separate sentence..of a completely different nature and having nothing to do with necessarily excluding websites and/or on-line ordering.

The exact answer to your question is, 'No.'

Lose 5W off the spec, and the answer is different.

But you didn't ask about that.

Call it 'Fun With Etymology' maybe, but us gradiates from the 'Helen Reddy Sped Reddin Course' can have fun with grammer...

Kelsey or otherwise!!

The more information the better!!

Of course...the GREENS not matching makes anything from John Deere completely useless!!

But...you already knew that.......not that I'm asking..........

You'll have 5w less light output from your headlight and an extra $20 in your pocket best I can deduce.

No, but it can't be too hard to find a replacement. Let me know if you want some help.
btw - You try John, at Zoom?

yeah he's got em, i just didn't want to drive over there for one lightbulb, hoping i could find it at an auto parts store. I rather not spend 20 bucks on a damn bulb either!

I do need to find some time to get that damn screw out!

I can't say exactly...not knowing your locale. The same style of blub has been found (less wattage, same base/style) at auto parts places (like Napa) and hardware stores (like ACE).

You would do well to take the old blub with you..and some maybe useful x-reference info:

Headlight Bulb
12v, 25/25 watt, 1 ear base
Replaces- JD CH11439, Ford / NH: SBA385120630, Yanmar: 194155-55810 or S.54977

Another possibility..tractor dealerships, small farm implements...FORD / NH (New Holland) / SHIBAURA

At the risk of getting scolded (again)...you have used both elements in the bulb already? You read that part?

i never scold!

I am terrible soldering, really terrible. One of the elements is fine but again, the awfulness of my soldering skills should not be under estimated! lol
