Is that a 250 or 450? Don't think I saw that mentioned.

It wasn't mentioned.

It was inferred a couple of times...and not corrected.

There's a lot of assumin' goin' on out thar!!!!

..but the muffler looks like a 450 to me...otherwise not easy to tell.

I was confused by the comment that said 'my KX250F buddy said this is faster than the 450's!'

Let us know how she goes! I'd like to say that I'll NEVER go 4T, but when/if I'm ever forced to in my life It'll be a Honda. IMO they've always been the king of 4T singles.

The CRF250X is a nice bike. Boring..plain..no Z-I-P to it. There are two words that best describe the best OF the bike:

1. Showas
2. Magic Button

...oh...OK...three words.

No hit on those 250 four strokers. Boring describes them nicely!

LOL! Wow, I was too excited and left that part out. I was thinking of the other thread where we had been talking about it, hijacking the thread really. Yep, it's an 04 CRF450R with ~35 hours or so on it, all ridden by a 40+C rider.

250Fs....no. I do not like them, especially the CRF250. That is the biggest slowest pig of a bike I've ever ridden, it was incredibly boring. Hop on a 450, there is enough powa' for anyone, it's amazing how fast you're going before you even realize it. Besides, those 250s are timebombs, we've seen way more 250Fs go through the service area with grenaded engines than 450s.

My buddy has over 100 hours on his CRF450 and is on his and changed out the whole top end at 75 hours. He said he could have run it even longer had he wanted too. With regular check-ups and maintenance these things will run a long time, it's still that stigma of grenading engines that follows them around. Different strokes for different strokes...

I got my fork seals and some suspension work done this afternoon, I'll be putting the front end together tonight and going riding tomorrow. Next tuesday I've got a tentative track day planned with another buddy on an 03 CRF450R, battle of the CRFs...

I thought the 250fs had the black number backgrounds and the 450 hgad white backgrounds? I know in MX/SX it is that way. :hmm:

It's different for woods....Don't quite remember the color schemes, but you could look it up at the ama. The only one I can think of off hand is white on red = Pro

These are whiplash plates, desert racing stuff. The state series that I run most of the time goes like this, green=C-class, yellow=B-class, Red=A-class, and Blue=AA-class/semi pros. I'm not entirely sure what the whiplash series (fast desert stuff) color ranks are but WORCS I believe is the same as our AMRA (state series).

I'll be ordering up some new numbers because mine are 613, 708 is the numbers the guy before me ran.

Took it for alittle spin around the neighborhood tonight...just amazing. Power on this thing is just incredible! 2nd gear on this thing is the speed of my KDX in 4 or 5! I haven't gotten it past 3 yet, still got 2 more gears to go...

What really irks me now is this...we've been in this drought cycle the last few years. For the last 3 or 4 years in a row the forests up here have been closed to all OHV travel due to extreme risk of fires. Well, they closed them this morning to all OHV travel. Just great huh? The only place I can now legally ride is the cinders OHV area and there is no ST out there to speak of. The closest legal singletrack for me to legally ride on is about 1 hour south of me. I'm bummed...

How heavy does it feel?

I took the kiddos to a kaw/ktm dealer yesterday - we're sizing the youngest up and things are lookin' good for a mini or senior adventure - and saw the new '08 KLX450. Beaut of a bike, but I got to say it felt heavy just to straddle it and lean the bike to and fro.

Hmm, honestly I think it's lighter than the KDX. It most definitely is lighter up top, the KDX is really top heavy. I really don't know though, we were kind of figuring it would be in the 235lb-ish range. It doesn't really feel heavy, it just feels "beefy" and that you're sitting on a beast, whereas when you're on a KDX you're sitting "in" the bike. It's different. Keep in mind, this is just my impression after riding around the block alittle and in the woods for a few miles.

The new KLX is really nice looking, the weight does surprise me though. I was reading somewhere that it was about 265 wet (or was that dry?). I dunno, whichever it is it's quite abit. Destry Abbott is racing a new KLX450 in the last H&H, we'll see how he fares in that with a new bike. I wonder what speed those things top out at stock?
