Hi from New Zealand

Post by colingrigson »

Hi everyone. I've been a bit of a lurker here, but I decided to register and here I am.
A few months ago, I turned 50 and decided to buy myself a birthday present in the form of a 2005 KDX220. I've been riding since my teens, but I've always been curious about the KDX and finally decided to get one, and I love it.
The bike I bought already had a Gnarly desert pipe and pro circuit muffler as well as a Boyesen Rad valve with carbon reeds. I've since added a 35mm carb and am currently doing a KLX fork conversion. The bike hauls.
I'm looking forward to being a part of this community.

Congratulations!! Great purchase.

The front brake hose should run inside the fork leg. Also, you might want to plug the two kickstand mount bolt holes to keep dirt and water out of the swingarm.
Thank you for participating on kdxrider.net. :bravo:

Thanks everyone.
Yes, I'll definitely take that advice and plug those kickstand holes. I didn't realise they went all the way through. Never thought to check.
And, yes the brake hose will be re-routed to the inside once I get the KLX front end sorted.
It's just coming into summer here so hopefully I'll have it ready for a great season of riding.
I've got a few other things to do as well: I bought a swing arm bearing kit and a linkage kit. The ones in it weren't too bad; They were old and hed been re-greased so I thought it may be time to do them.

Welcome! Very cool bike and your plans for it sound excellent. Owning KDXs is a sickness - we just can't get enough of them!!
Long live the KDX and all hail King Fredette!
