In the USA, the 1990 outer tubes were silver colored.
You may want to try to go ahead and disassemble them. I have a set of 1991 forks that someone used PVC for a spacer I guess. A little chip was stuck in one of the shim stacks (valving) causing it to be constantly partially open. Actually, I still have a pic from 2005 that I posted back then. I will post it again, 18 years later.
I had a Coors Light MANY YEARS ago. I am just stuck on German beer for now. I want to find Augustiner, Scneidder Weise and a few others, but so far, no luck.
You never know what is in there until you disassemble it.

I am now done with it. Everything is working well but the valves in the bottom were so stuck that i decided to let them untouched…
