Recently bought a 93 KDX200. Working on getting it running. Not having much luck. I work 50+ hrs a week so I have more money than time. I've replaced the Stator, plug, ignition coil, gave it a K&N filter, and cleaned out the carb. It ran when I got it but I knew something was up when the bike was already warm when I showed up to check it out. It ran the following day and after that couldn't get it started. I think I may be too heavy on the oil running 32:1. Thinking about bumping it up to 40:1. The previous owner said it liked to flood out. Seems like the compression is low because there's not a lot of resistance when trying to kick start it. Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Any suggestions or grammar corrections are always welcome. English is my second language. I am fluent in hickinese.

I would reclean the carb. Do you have a jet block gasket in your carb?
Nothing wrong on your premix ratio. Pick an oil & stick with it.

32:1 is certainly more oil than it needs but if it was in good order it wouldn’t keep it from running well. Check the compression and see what you have.

Now I know what a Jet Block Gasket is!!!! Found some pics (worth a thousand words) and the name makes sense now that I see where it is. I will check it when I get home. I read they are impossible to find. Any sources for them? As for the compression, I don't have a compression tester and I considered buying a compression gauge but read the cheap ones don't work. Any opinions on a compression gauge?

You might be able to rent / borrow one from an auto parts store. If it is worn out, then compression will be low.

Worn out reeds will also hinder things.

When you say K&N filter, do you mean like a pod filter?

There are a few JBG kits on eBay that are reasonable. I can tell you I was chasing a rich condition with my orig PWK35 carb, and after replacing the JBG, (it was paper thin) I no longer have the rich condition and the carb actually runs great. Make sure you have a Torx 20 screwdriver to remove the 2 screws as a small head bit won't fit into the mid body of the carb. Some of those kits include a small Torx tool.

Your pre mix ratio is probably not the problem here. But just so you know, I've been running 40:1 (Super M) for ever, never had a problem. Keeps it from drooling out the silencer.

You guys are hilarious! I too am unfortunately young enough to have seen that Coke commercial when first aired. When I first went to inspect the jet block gasket I was like WTF? Why does this screw have a stupid nipple so I can't get it off? I'm old enough to know there's a tool for everything so google helped me find the T20 security bit. I ordered a replacement and installed it. I'm also replacing the throttle cable because the old one was not snapping back like it should. I tried oiling it, cleaning it with carb cleaner and then reoiling it. Still seemed like it was difficult to move. I appreciate all the advice and the comedy. I'll try bumping it up to 42:1 when I get it back together just so I can represent all the different ratio lovers out there.
