New Summer Project 1989 KDX200
Hey everyone, my name is Brennan from Memphis TN. About 6 years ago I had a 1990 KDX200 and loved it. I have been looking for a new project and this one showed up. Its a 1989 KDX200 that the previous owner said the clutch. Also after tearing it down, I found out that the remaining oil was super milky and there was oil in the radiator. So the plan is to give the motor a good once over and replace all the seals and gaskets and check for other surprises. The problem I am having is finding parts. The main parts I need are "13086-1060 WHEEL-CLUTCH" and a rear shock but every parts place I check just says unavailable. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good place to buy parts? Thanks in advance.

EBay is going to be your best bet, E series parts are becoming very rare, especially motor bits.

Welcome to kdxrider.net.
Look on eBay for a used shock. It may need a rebuild, but if yours is missing or damaged beyond a simple rebuild, then it is the way to go.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. Thanks for the help! Also, what would yall suggest for cleaning out any residual oil/water? Since I'm already taking the motor apart anyway to add all new seals, I am planning on cleaning it while its apart and then changing the oil a few times after it's back together. Any other suggestions?

Are you doing all new bearings, bushings, and seals?

I was planning on checking everything once its torn down. I am defiantly replacing all the gaskets through.

I guess I should have also asked if you meant you were splitting the case halves.

Yes, I am defiantly planning on splitting the case open and doing a thorough check and cleaning. I would hate to put everything back together only to have something fail a week later. I've had it happen once before and won't make that mistake again.
