hi all I'm new here , I've joined to see if I can get any info on a 1982 kdx175 that I'm restoring, I'm in the process of rebuilding the forks but cant find any info on fork oil grade how much I need and levels , if anyone could help that we be great ,I know these bikes are old and limited so information about them is getting lost , also if anyone knows where I could pick up spares or has anything laying around they would sell I'd love to hear from them, thanks Gordon

I’d imagine the fork weight hasn’t changed much through the 80s, I’d try a 5w fork oil. Try looking for a user manual for it on eBay.

I have a kdx175 flywheel laying around, let me know if you want it. Don’t know if those are prone to fail like the 83-87 flywheels. Maybe someone else knows.

Welcome to kdxrider.

The manual states 10 weight fork oil.

Do look for a used manual on eBay ("Owner's Manual & Service Manual)

For USA models:

Maybe it was the shock oil that was 5w :lie:

yep

damper rod forks, 10 weight oil
cartridge forks, 5 weight oil
shocks, 5 weight oil

I think that is how it goes.
