Hello everyone! I finally got another dirt bike after a 6 year hiatus, turned out it has a KDX200 motor so I signed up to get some help with some info/advice on how to get this motor in tip top shape! It is a 1989 KX125 chassis and a (89?) KDX200 engine. I ripped apart the motor which was "rebuilt", a definite amateur job. There was a bunch of RTV on the base gasket and carb... which wasn't a good start. There were wood screws holding the KIPS cover on FML. The shifter shaft splines are rounded. The head gasket surface of the cylinder has a low spot by the edge where a "welder" tried to "fix" something on the cylinder however it looks salvageable. The lever on the gov shaft was broken and rewelded (buying a new one from the dealer). cylinder has some scuffs that I can catch a fingernail on so I plan on re plating that. The piston is new however it has some gouges from the cylinder so I'm replacing that. The con rod has a bit of play so that will be new also. luckily I only paid $250 for the bike and the rest is in serviceable shape. Wish me luck.
Edit: also the dingus who reassembled the top end didn't put the power valves back in to the cylinder so I need another set of those...
