hey new member
hey new member here been poking around sense getting a super gem 2006 kdx200 for $1300 bucks. I dont know how its supposed to feel but cuts out on me mid range full throttle. Thinking about just getting an lectron carb to not have to mess with it but overall bike feels amazing for my newbnesss coming from a beat TTR250. Either way dropping some dollars to get her perfect before spring thanks for looking and yes first thing i did was get a 4.8kg rear spring for my 155lb rider weight with gear. pics are the day after i got her and cleaned it really really good had only seen 90 miles in the last 9 years and still on original tires. thankfully PO knew how to keep a bike and it was always stored with no gas.
Any tips or must have mods please let me kno thanks also intrested in used lectron if any out there.
PS- If you think this is clean should have seen the 06 yz250f with only 15 hrs on it not even one scratch.

Re: hey new member
Welcome!
Make sure the KIPS is clean and working properly, as well as the carb being clean. Setting for that long can cause it to gum up, even when proper storage was attempted.
Great looking 2006!!

Don't soak the carb.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Re: hey new member
Awesome find! Enjoy the bike and welcome to the forum. I've also thought about going the Lectron route, even though my bike runs clean, but not sure if I want to spend the money. Either way, good luck!

Not likely the KIPS if your issue is dropping out mid-range. The KIPS does not affect ignition or fuel delivery, just exhaust tuning. The bike will run without the KIPS being functional at all. When you cleaned the carb did you note your jet sizes? Before you tear the engine down tune the carb, it's cheaper and you don't lose riding time.

Re: hey new member
Figured id pop in and try and quickly go over what ended up being the problem. all and all the carb was still dirty and needed deep cleaning and to be leaned out to make it run smooth but like someone said it was running no prob with the KIPS totally gummed shut not moving at all. thankfully just cleaned the hell out of everything and had no broken parts. did new top end and then had a good shop from my club tune the carb for me. the little ripper is ripping again. also did a solid few little mods. thanks to everyone for chiming in.
photos didn't load in correct order but check out what the kips looked like after 9 years sitting cleaned with no gas lololol

Re: hey new member
DO NOT put oven cleaner on aluminum. Don't ask me or my Answer S-A Pro why. :-(
Great job on the cleanup and getting down to what the problem is.
Power valves require maintenance.
