I am so tempted to get a “racier” bike like this one to also go into the stable, but at these COVID prices the KDX is gonna keep getting pounded. And I’ll keep learning.

For the woods, skip it. I have a 2005 KX250 that is similar to a 2007. It is not so fun in the woods.

I’m blazing up the leader board! Officially out of the basement (barely): 24/32 in Sr C (over 40). Now I can have an Oly!

This guys is running 1:10 (per 7.5mi lap) faster than me. Plus he is in long course and did 7 laps. I was in short course and did 4. But his speed would be not too terribly far off from mine.

1. NORCS - Round 3 (5/24/21)
2. Class - Senior C
3. Course - Woods 90%, Track 10%
4. Location - Moto-West Raceway, Port Orchard, WA
5. Results - TBD

Comments:
Back to my old tricks. My head thinks I’m faster and in better fitness than I really am.

Best start, maybe worst finish. I was doing good and then got routed into the Puckerbrush. I was gassed by time I got bike pulled out of the tanglefoot and back uphill onto course.
Then tried to ride fast before my strength recovered. So managed to put it down 3x in first 1/2-lap before dialing it back.

I was last rider to still make the 4th lap cutoff time. So got an extra lap that exhausted me. Will get results later in the week.

I was following this guy at the start and even got past him for a while. You can see the mighty KDX feeding him some Castor perfume between min 6-8. I was feeling pretty good about how my day was going until I decided to stop for a face full of bushes.

I also met the mighty Ryan with a 220 beauty. He slipped past me while I was taking soil samples. And reporters a good ride (only 2nd outing since he bought it) with no crashes. And he is on this site sometimes. Looking good!

Good save there at the 8 minute mark not to run in to the downed rider! Bike looks like it is handling pretty good. Seems to be running a bit rich though.

Nice, you looked good in the video! Standing on the pegs definitely gets you around the course quicker!

I made 30/37, using my Mario cart skills to crash and try again.
I agree I am running rich. But didn’t really like the smaller jet.
So I errored on fat side. Never fouled a plug or have any blubbering... so have decided to leave it until I want another science project. Still get 3 gears wheelies and rocket starts (even though I have no idea what to do with them).

.... plus I am still mixing 32:1 (cause I think I am riding at such high performance level!) So maybe 2T oil smoke mixed in there.

Nice job!

I’m running 40:1 Yamalube 2S with non-E gas @ 90 octane. The 2S has an exceptionally low ignition point and neither my KDX or my son’s 200 xcw have any spooge or fouling issues. His manual says he can run 60:1, but I see no reason for it.

Figure I need to finish this off for 2021, since next season is almost here:
I did last 2 races on my MX bike, since I was slacking to fix the kicker on KDX. The courses were kinda rough woodsy so it wore me out and finished 25/27 and 25/30. Would have done a but better on KDX.
Missed riding at Washougal, due to injury. But you get 1 race to throw away.
Did 3 races on KDX and 2 races on RMZ.
End result: 12th in Sr C for the series.
I’ll fess up that 12th is last. lots of people race, but many don’t do enough races (needed 5 this year) to get a standings at end of season.
But, I can call myself a motorbike racer.

This season I move into Masters, so I can get educated by guys older than me, instead of younger than me. But it is a blast, either way.

Congrats! You did a season and survived! That is an accomplishment in and of itself as this is one helluva tough sport. Now that you have some experience under your belt, and the KDX will be ready to go, I highly suspect you'll have even more fun this upcoming season.

Congratulations on your season of fun! Please start your ‘2022 KDX in NW Off-Road Championship’ posting series with the upcoming season’s schedule. I’m out your way quite a bit from Virginia and would like to plan a visit to race one of yours.

I’m doing the same thing for VCHSS this year, we start up again next month. Good luck!
