Haha! Good luck. Everybody knows not to change anything before a race.... and everybody still does it!

I’m here at the Sandlapper enduro! Anybody else?
Parked across from the fire station, NOT in the camping area. Old guy scored a primo location near the ports John’s! Look for the small black cargo trailer!

Hoping you guys had a fun race at Sandlapper! My forks are supposed to be ready early this week from the Go Race Belgian Valve Conversion - can’t wait to try it out at the Joe Lloyd Memorial Hare Scramble in Lynchburg, VA next Sunday. Still don’t have my new rear fender yet - fingers crossed, but will run either way. Can’t wait to hear about the last minute klx fork conversion Uwharrie!!!

I’ve driven over 10,800 miles this month and haven’t been on my KDX since Sumter - so I guess we’ll see how we do next Sunday. I did join Planet Fitness so I can work out and shower while on the road, and I will be carrying my mountain bike with me starting next week. By June maybe I’ll be back in shape🤔

Just a very quick note on Sandlapper. It was a true pleasure to meet Uwharrie and his wife and son! Nice family!
I have almost no pics though. I volunteered to help at the start and they had me checking in riders. I was so busy I hardly had time to breathe!
I have a couple of pit pictures pre-race I will
Post later.
Conditions looked perfect but I’ll defer to the actual riders on that!

Doakley it was great to meet you to! Hopefully we can get together and do some riding in the future. Have you ever rode Uwharrie national forest? I live about 20 minutes from the trail head.

The conditions today at the sandlapper was about as close to perfect as It gets. 80 degrees/sunny and enough moisture in the ground to keep the dust away and only a few small mudholes.

The klx forks worked great and allowed me to ride a bit faster for sure but now I'm wishing the shock was working a little better. Isn't that how it always works. Haha

Stomper I'm with you on the "needing to get in shape". I have no problem riding the kdx at a good pace but never seem to have enough energy to push for a whole section. I ended up 13 out of 15 in 30A. It's time for me to get back to riding my mtn bike on a regular basis as well.

I didn't take a single picture the whole weekend but I DID get all 5 sections on the GoPro and I'll post a link here when I get it up on YouTube in the next few days.

Uwharrie - forgive me if I’ve asked before - what sprockets are you running?

Uwharrie is showing us how an “A” rider does it on a KDX. Impressive!

OEM spec still... 13/47... might try a 49 or 50 just to raise to my rpm in 3rd a little more

down 1 on the CS is about equivalent to up 3 on the sprocket IIRC ( 12/47 about equivalent to 13/50 ) so you could go with a 12T counter and keep the stock rear 47T and get 13/50 equivalent gearing for about 1/4 the price...but then I am cheap lol.

Moonstomper, I run 13/49 on my 220. It does just what you said, let’s me run 3rd at just a little higher rpm in the woods. Not as high as Uwharrie runs but that dude flies thru the trees!
FWIW, I’ve always heard a 12 countershaft sprocket wears the chair a bit faster and also wears harder on the rubber chain slide on the swing arm. Don’t know if that is actually true.

Heck no! What I’m interested in is seeing more of these bikes on the starting line at enduros! I’m still looking to fill an entire 6 bike row of nothing but KDX bikes! I know of four of us locally we can possibly lean on:
Me (next year)
Uwharrie Welder
Moonstomper
Thirdgenlxi
Looking for two more!
