KDX 250 SR / F1 piston and con rod

Post by Kurt123 »

Hi,

I'm looking to change the piston and the con rod + bearings soon. As i understand it they are different to the KDX D/E models listed on most websites part diagrams.

I'll continue to look around, but wondered if there are any suitable replacements or alternatives that will work just as well, as i'm changing both the piston and rod at the same time.

It is a 1991 KDX 250 SR F1 (frame number DX250F-00****)

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome! I am based in the U.K, although the bike could possibly be an import as the clocks are in kilometers. Is there any way to find out using the frame number? Some sites i have looked at can narrow down to UK/Japan/US for the D/E models when searching for parts, but not the SR/F1.

Cheers

If it was an EU version instead of UK, are you able to look on an EU site for parts?

Thanks for your help, I did some digging round this site and turns out the SR has a slightly different cylinder ports so needs a different piston and con rod to the standard KDX so they are not interchangable, managed to find the part numbers so should be all good

Luckily a rebuild kit I found on ebay for a KDX250 specifically said "Not For SR", overwise I may have bought it and come across problems further down the line :hmm:
