A local farm kid is selling a 93 KDX 250. In my younger days I owned 3 bikes, all KDX. An 80, 250, and dads 400. They were all early air cooled bikes. I am wanting to start doing some trail riding again. Of coarse on a tight family budget. I found this 93 locally. What do I need to look at on these liquid cooled machines? The kid I am buying it from has only had it a few months and knows nothing about it.

Same as you would look for on any bike. General maintenance, condition of airfilter, swingarm / linkage / wheel bearings, etc and so on. I'd love to pick up a KDX250 to mess around with one of these days. If the price is right and it's not a dog, why not?

Look for leaks and noises, check the color of the tranny oil when the water pump seals go the coolant will mix with the trans oil turning it milky white.
