Is this an add or are you going to tell us more about your experience with it?

It is a Chinese bike with a Yamaha DT230 clone engine (the company bought the old Yamaha production line and tooling), WP clone suspension, Brembo clone brakes, KTM clone frame and most of the other bits...basically a typical chinese bike where everything is "a clone" of name brand components. For the price probably a good entry level bike, but some things that would steer me away as a serious off-road bike. Bottom mounted electric start, but no back up kick starter (which is unfortunately becoming pretty common place in the off road market), parts availability in our current economic market would be worrisome as well. All that said there have been a lot of favorable reviews on its performance, just nothing long-term. Rocky Mountain ATV did a quick look at last years model HERE. I'd be interested to hear some first hand experience as well. There is a distributor in the Seattle area, maybe I can get a test ride...

One of our local shops had one in late last year but it was a bit overpriced($6500), looked like a decent bike, fit and finish was good but cannot comment of quality of parts. How he got it into Canada I don't know??. Have seen and read lots of reviews on both this bike, their 250cc air cooled 4stroke and the water cooled 250cc(now a 300cc) 4stroke, from what I have read the US distributor GPXMoto seems to be very quick to replace any defective parts and address any problems . This 2stroke is both electric and kick start, parts I don't think would be a problem as most are copies and some forums list OEM parts that are straight crossovers from other bikes, the motor is a old Yamaha design with has been getting very good reviews, its not a 250 but 223cc motor.
The only thing I could see a problem is resale down the road, but like anything once they build a reputation it might change, I think they fill a void in the market.

It is an interesting bike and the RMATVMC review was solid, but I wouldn't say that it is a KDX replacement. My KDXs are going anywhere anytime soon. As long as parts are still being produced for the KDX and NOS are available, there will be no replacing for me haha. It certainly would be worth a test ride, but buying it would be another story.

I like the looks of this. It has a vaguely Husqvarna-ish styling to it. It it became available at a low enough price, it could be tempting to investigate further. :pop:

For $6500 I would buy a YZ250X instead. Just my preference, of course.

Interested to see how these bikes do in the long term... I'm always very suspect of anything made in Chyyyyy-nuh. Also don't think I would call that a KDX replacement either hahah. Going to let us know what you think after riding it or what? Also, is it street legal?

Mine too. Kawasaki says my bike weighs 223 so I guess it depends how much the GPX really weighs.

Funnily enough I opened this thread thinking to suggest the same bike, as I have one, although it's not branded GPX or TSE. The bike does have a kick starter and parts are available cheaply at aliexpress.com

The engine has a heap of linear low down power and is very difficult to stall. This makes it easy to ride, especially on hills, single and technical tracks. It's counter balanced, so unlike the KDX no vibration. The suspension is excellent, after a four hour ride (my first in 8 years) I was a little tired, but no sore muscles. It's definitely a great bike for older riders, those on a budget who can do the work themselves and new riders.

I'm in Thailand where most things are cheap, but not decent dirt bikes. I didn't want to spend 10k on a KTM and then start bashing it about on rocky tracks. The price of dirt bikes is taking the fun out of the sport.

On the down side it is a bit heavy, but still lighter than many other bikes. The weight is mainly in the engine, so it sits low and is not noticeable, until your stuck or have to pick it up. The KDX felt more top heavy, especially with a full tank.

The other day three friends rode it, one on a KTM300ex, another on a KTM250 4T and one on a CRF450x. They all said it was a heap of fun, easy to ride with good brakes and suspension. The guy on the CRF preferred it to his bike, but we were riding tight and technical trails. His bike was more than double the price.

That's $6500 canuckistani Kopecks! So like, $4000 USD.

I've always wondered how the suspension is on those things? China bikes arent for me, but I do think they have a place. Gets more people riding, if that's all they can afford and want to buy new, it's good for our sport.

I always forget about that weird Canuckistani Kopecks currency!

I do agree with the sentiment but your dealing with a "brand" that you have no clue about product support down the road and you know is going to have pretty much zero aftermarket support. The extra cash for a new Yamaha YZ250X, or even a used one, or a really nice used bike from any of the major manufacturers, is just well worth it IMO. Hell, I got a line on another H-series bike, a KDX200, that looks and runs great for under a grand (that's under $1281 Canuckistani Kopecks  ).

I've known two people that have bought full size Chinese made bikes. The metals, plastics, electronics, etc. are not up to Japanese or European bike standards and they have had plenty of issues with them. One finally decided to sell his Honda clone and he still can't unload and it's been a couple of years! Resale value is absolute nill on these type of bikes. At least with a major brand you know you can get a good chunk of your cash back out of them. If you're going to pick up one of these Chinese made bikes then I say buy used as you can get them dirt cheap!

I am one to hold on to a bike for a long time. Parts availability is a concern for me. Just look at some Euro brands and anything ten years old. Old Yellow/blue Huskys, red/white Huskys, Shercos, Gas Gas, etc.

I like having the F150 of dirt bikes parts availability, the KDX.

These bikes get quite a bit of lover over on ADV Rider...... basically they're significantly upgraded DT200s is my take on things...... be interesting to spend a day on one for sure, see how they'd compare to the KDX.

Oh, I agree. I would love to try one out and especially so back to back against my KDX and my buddy's YZ250X.
