The ‘98 KX250 was regarded as the best 250t that Kawasaki ever made, with the most potent engine, and was the last year of the good looking body style. If you can find a genuine ‘98 for a good price, snatch it up!

I ended up buying a 97 KX 250. I'll post some pics soon.

My youngest son said to me " Dad, I'm not in love with the KDX like you are." Now we own a KX 250.

Nice! I'd like to build a "gncc style" KX125 or 250, but then I think, maybe I should do a full build on a KDX... Then I also think, I should probably wait till I am back working lol. Someday it'll happen!

What are your guys plan for the KX250? MX or Woods?

Woods. AHRMA Mid Atlantic Cross Country. If racing ever starts. I've got build plans if and when I get back to work myself.

Look on TT for noclyde1 's information on installing a KDX250 transmission.

If you do decide on wanting to install a KDX250 wide ratio transmission, I have one I would part with.

Just read the TT link. So do I understand this correctly? I can install a '91-'94 wr trans. into my '97 KX 250. This would involve splitting the cases and some machine work?

The only machine work I remember is the special bushings to install the shift rods in to the KX250 cases. The KDX rods are smaller in diameter than the ones in the KX so the bushings take up the gap.

EDIT: Post number 4000... woohoo!
