95 rmx suggestions
Hey people, i swapped out the stock pj carby to a used pwk...both 38 mm. I like everything about the pwk, cept i have a pinging issue. Ive richened it up to where its ridable but it still pings....out of curiosity i swapped back to the pj and ping was gone. So im sorta in a loss as to why the pwk makes it ping. Anybody have insight on this??

Re: 95 rmx suggestions
Is it lean?
Is it just in a certain throttle range or ranges?
Got any RMX pics to post? Who doesn't love an RMX or WR two-stroke?

Re: 95 rmx suggestions
It mainly does it in the slower technical stuff....where im on the throttle n off alot but mostly arpund 1/8-1/4 throttle.....ive tried stock jetting per manual, fattened it up, raised needle, run hi test gas only but still does it. So this weekend i put the pj back on (pretty close to stock jetting) ping is gone now. But the throttle response/ridability is sufferring tremendously now! Id want the pwk back! Lol....Jason wrote:Is it lean?

thickness of needle is 1/8 - 1/4. I had to get a one step thicker one when I put an FMF pipe on my 1994 KDX200, based on Fredette's suggestion.

If both idle jets are the same then look at the slide cutaway. The higher the cutaway the leaner it is with the throttle slightly open.
Also check the float height between the two. The higher the float, the richer it runs.

Re: 95 rmx suggestions
^^ What Jag said. Check the slide. Was there a similar year RMX that came with the PWK that you could reference fro baseline jetting? I was able to do this for my WR. The WR came with a Mik VM, and the YZ with a Mik TM. Mine already had a TM on it when I got it, but wore out to the point of leaking. In 96 the YZ came with a PWK and the jetting from this was very close when I threw a 38mm PWK on there. NIGHT AND DAY compared to both Mik's!!
