1990 KX125 bought two today Parts?
Acquired 2 fully rolling chassis today for very cheap one came with a michigan title the other came with an engine needing the top end done, shift shaft replaced, and output shaft replaced. only thing im missing parts wise to build one bike is an ignition coil. One also seems to have a Suzuki RM rear shock on it.
So...my plan is unclear at best right now a kx500 motor may find its home in one chassis but I wanted to see if anyone may be interested in one of the front ends before I get to far. It is a 1990 so it is a direct bolt on I have the triples, both forks, axle, and front wheel you'll have to buy a caliper which is like 15-20 on ebay. If interested let me know. I live in ohio and would be willing to ship

Re: 1990 KX125 bought two today Parts?
Thank you sir my last few kawis were all busts so I was itchin to spend some money on these
Do you happen to know if the 125 rad valve fits the KDX and if so is it any good? I'm pretty sure this motor has a rad valve and I thought somewhere someone said the reed cage gaskets were the same from the 125 to the 200....

Are those the 46mm forks? If so what do U want for the front end? It may be in my price range.

They are a 41mm USD, but all-in-all a really nice feeling front end (as are the '89 KX conventionals) compared to the KDX units.Actionman wrote:Are those the 46mm forks? If so what do U want for the front end? It may be in my price range.

And to KDXOhio, I can double-check, but I think I have your ignition coil. Also, you might have the only perimeter chassis that your KX500 will (sort of) bolt into. Front engine mounts will need to be fabbed, but the more problematic swingarm end is of the same design as the KX500 and (potentially) bolts and aligns into the existing mounts.

The 125 cradle angles up towards the front and may give you fitment issues. The 250 frame is what would be easiest. More room. The 125 frame will cause the 500 engine to be angled up and cause clearance issues up top. The 500 engine is tall. Pretty much any KX250 2t frame is a easy conversion to a 500. I built a 04 250/500 hybrid and it was pretty much a straight forward conversion.

Generally, any 125 > 500 hybrid will require a new engine cradle.

Some one on here said they used a 125 intake boot on a hybrid I think...
But you could look up the rad valve for the 125 and the 200 and see if they are the same.

HAHA I feel really stupid...I overlooked the rad valve bc there wasn't a picture to go along with it faster to browse the pictures than to read the titles

Oh yeah duh sorry
Part numbers for the 125 and kdx are in fact different and rad valve is also listed for the 89-06 from what Ive heard the VF3 is money better spent than the rad valve I may still see If i can bolt it into the kdx
