2013 KX100 - too small for an adult?

Was perusing Kawi's website and came across the new 2013 KX100. Looks neat. Under 160 pounds, compact, and 25 hp out of a proven 2 stroke mill. IMO, it would make a killer trail bike in my area with tight woods. However... I'm 5'10", 172lbs. Would the bike be too small for me to ride comfortably? Or would my weight wear out the high-strung 100cc motor too quickly?

I think it would be a little small for you, but having built a DR-Z 125 for mini cycle racing, I know I would be OK with the size. I'm 5'7" and 150 lbs and think it would be a killer woods (and probably MX) bike for me.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'd have to go to the dealer and just see one for myself. Seat height is a bit low, but still higher than my previous street bikes. I'm not doing crazy jumps though, just putting around the forest. My KDX is a bit too big for some trails behind the house, hence my question.

keep in mind, the low end is not gonna be as good as the KDX ...
(still very good I heard, especially with a heavier FWW)

We have a 2001 kx100 that we bought for the boys. I must confess that it's been used more by so called adults than the younger members of the clan.;-)

One of my buddies has one for his older son. Like boghopper said, it gets used more by the "so called adults". What a blast!

I was at the Kawi-Harley-Triumph-John Deer dealer yesterday picking up some new goggles and sat on one of those. The I'm 5'10 and 190lbs ( the camera adds 10lbs you know) and it hilariously small like a chimp riding a tricycle. The KLX 140f on the other hand was a bit bigger but that's a whole different bike.

As a side note they WILL ask you to leave a busy dealership if they catch you dry humping the new 450fi...

We've got a KX100. It is just fine for plunking around in the woods. The motor is a little busy but you get used to it.
I'm 5-10, 170.

I have to be careful trying to go "fast" on it. The wheels are small and I am too heavy for the suspension. It will deflect and dodge unexpectantly.

My boy is just fine on it at 100 lbs and 5'-4", it looks like it does everything right for him.

Unfortunately, didn't have time to stop by the Kawi dealer near me, so it'll have to wait until September when I get back from vacation.

I was thinking the same thing after seeing a couple of kids on the trail all riding kx100/crf150r. These were big kids, taller than me (5'7"). They looked like they were having more fun than I was. I couldn't reach the ground.

At 5-10 that thing is going to be quite small for you. Used ones can be had for around $1k FYI....which may make it a more viable toy. You should look into lowering your KDX.

Wife has one. For your height/weight it will be too small for a full time machine. I am the same size as you and it is too small for me. For my wife @ 5' 6" and 140 it is on the small side even after risers. We resprung it which helped a lot. I have had four full days on it when my KDX was used by guests. It is fun, but it is also too small. Short jaunts or backup bike it works okay.
