So I lost my account and my thread during the site crash so heres an update..

Took the carb back apart to properly clean the pilot jet that was still blocked. After some more research I learned there is in fact a SUPER tiny hole that goes straight through the pilot jet. Had to snip a single stainless steel brush hair off my wire brush to poke through it and one other passage that was just as small. Slapped it back together and it pretty much fired right up! Tried starting without the choke on at first but then pulled it on to get it to fire. Still gotta tune it. But she rips now! So stoked.
32:1 mix. Doesn't even smoke!
Heres a video:

Air filter solution:
Steel mesh at Home Depot was stupid expensive so I figure I may as well see what the dollar store has for, well, anything. And well, sometimes my genius scares me haha, because I found the perfect filter cage with a little modification... not done yet and still waiting for the 82 cage-less UNI filter to show up but this is what I came up with, and it fits in the housing PERFECTLY! LOL...

Oh and got the fuel petcock thing figured out with an in-line from the auto parts store with some high pressure fuel hose(for stiffness) and a new filter.

Also new grips!

Anyone have a source for the exhaust gasket? I have the o-ring on order, just need to find the gasket... thx. Oh and is there a way to adjust the throttle cable? first like quarter turn is just nothing after putting the carb back in and getting rid of the jank setup they had coming out of the top of the carb...

On the exhaust gasket, I never use them. I assemble the pipe to cylinder junction with the o-ring(s) and some high temp RTV. Works great if you aren't pulling the pipe on and off regularly.

Most throttle cables have a section in them for adjustment like in the pic below. That long hex shaped part along with the nut and the part that threads in to the long hex section does the adjustment. Otherwise, you have the screw at the throttle and the screw cap at the carb.

+1 on Hi-temp RTV. I run a bead of it around the seating surface for the pipe and then let it setup and then install the pipe. makes a great, flexible, crush gasket.

Good idea with the rtv thx guys.

And someone definitely put some random throttle cable on with this ebay Keihin carb.. I guess the jankness was there to take up the slack because I got no hex adjustment, only adjustable thing would be at the throttle grip, I'll see if I can find some vids on how to do that and see if that works.. thx again.

managed to get rid of the slack with some rejankification, but in a much better way than before lol. getting full throttle now! there was in fact some hex nut adjustment hidden under a piece of rubber at the grips but it was maxed out so just had to install a spacer of sorts at the carb. test run this weekend!! cheers.
