Is there supposed to be a thin washer in the clutch area?

Went to fire up my 1985 kdx after sitting for a while and the clutch was stuck, so I took it out and unstuck the plates, put it back together and rode it. I noticed a thin washer about the size of the clutch spindle, don’t know if it is for my bike. The clutch starts to engage when lever is pulled in. I was thinking it could also be because I was using atf and it’s probably overdue for a change, but does anyone recall a thin washer when changing their clutch?

The part numbered 92022B in the above diagram is often overlooked when the clutch is pulled and reinstalled, but will cause issues with engagement.

being the kind and gentle washer that it is, it would never get oil stuck long enough to get stuck on the basket, then fall off and hide somewhere

That washer appears to be much thicker than the washer in question. You wouldn’t know the actual Specific part number of those would you?
