1988 KDX 200 Aftermarket Air Filter Options

Post by Dutch-MI »

Good Morning Air Cooled KDXer's

I bought an '88 last year and have been slowing rebuilding it as one replacement has lead to another.
I decided to junk the old right handed PWK carb and bought a new PWK air striker with air and idles screw adjustments on the left. This makes adjustment difficult since the air box sits against the left side the carb on the '88's.

Has anyone had success keeping the elements out using a universal cone foam filter with a water resistant pre-filter bag over it?
I don't want to suck in any crap after just re-plating the cylinder.

Thanks for any insight.

Welcome to kdxrider.net.

See if you can transfer over the choke lever from the stock carb to the new carb.

Three bolts and the screw for the airbox to carb boot clamp is all that is holding it on.

If that works, I honestly would rather remove the complete air box and fiddle with the air screw and put the airbox back on before using a universal filter even for riding on paved roads in a drought.
Thank you for participating on kdxrider.net. :bravo:
