1987 KDX200 - Carburetor Rebuild Kit

Post by Cenide »

Hi all, thanks for the approval into the forum first and foremost. Also, if I get some things wrong, please excuse I am sort of new to bikes, but have some automotive experience with cars.

Basically I am having an issue on finding a carb rebuild kit online and in store (local motorcycle / motorbike specific shop). The local parts shop has got me the wrong one two times in a row so I prefer to go online at this point.

I am just wondering if anyone has had any luck finding carb rebuild kits w/ gaskets for specifically a 1987 KDX200, it still has the OEM carb with the "Mikuni" logo/name with "corporation" below the logo, near the top where the throttle cable goes into the carb.

If anyone has recommendations that would be greatly appreciated. Can upload images if needed.

Thanks!

Welome to kdxrider.net. We used to have instant sign up, but spammers kept posting links trying to sell shoes  . Thanks for signing up.

Does yours look like this? I ask because someone may have replaced the stock carburetor with a different Mikuni.

www.sudco.com has almost all the parts.

Thanks for the reply!

But yes that diagram looks to be like the carb that I have for my KDX.

Here is a couple links to some images of what mine looks like,

Hope that those links can give more insight.

Appreciate the reply, thank you!

The needle is an OEM item. It is not a standard Mikuni part. Unless bent or worn out, you would not be replacing the needle. There is one made by Offroad Innovation as a replacement.

A lot of the other parts are indeed normal VM34SS parts.

Here's the 2nd go around for the Lectron. The first was backwards. Covid put a slow-mo on it but she finally arrived today. Will let y'all know how she runs.

Curious to see how the air cooled motor likes the Lectron. 34mm?
