Hello, I am new to the site and have searched and read a number of threads about KDX175 Carb issues.
My bike is an 82 KDX 175 - A3 with a VM34SS Mikuni Carb. I have cracked the carb body and am trying to find a replacement. Currently I can only find 80-81 175 Carbs on eBay that look slightly different than mine.
My question, would it be possible to use a carb from a different year, ie a 81 on an 82 with some jetting change? Any chance anyone knows of someone who is parting out an 82 KDX175.
Any help would be great, it is a shame not to be riding it!
Thanks,

I would just try to go with the 80 or 81. Look on partzilla parts fiche, it’ll tell you what jets came standard with what year. It might be a while before you see a 40 year old carburetor pop up on eBay.

You could find a PWK33/35 from a later model 220/200, you would need to fiddle with jetting to get it right but it can be done. Also check Sudco and Jet'R US, they may have parts to repair.

Re: 1982 KDX175 - A3 Carb Swap
KDXGarage, thanks, you steered me towards looking at a new VM34. The carb body looks very similar, and the dimensions are identical. My concern was that it would not be properly configured for an old 2stroke like the KDX175.
My plan is to try the new carb body with the original Jets from my old carb, as the netting in the new carb is different. I ordered the carb from Fortnine website because I am in Canada.
I will post how it works out when I receive it in a cpl weeks.
Thanks for all the help. Fingers crossed!!!
