Nuts on the Crank

Post by SRRobirds »

Hi Guys -

I'm replacing the seals on the crank of an '86 KDX200. Neither the parts diagram nor workshop manual say that the primary gear nut nor the flywheel nut are left hand threads.

On the two vintage bikes I'm most familiar with (Hodaka and Husky) the nut on the right side is left hand threads, so I thought I'd check with you guys before I went further.

So, are both nuts on the crank right hand threads, or is one left handed? If so, which side has left hand threads?

Thanks for your help with this.

Both are normal right hand threads - the manual would specify if it wasn’t.
