Newbie to site! 1987 KDX200
Hey you all! Great site! So, I have a low hours bike that hasn’t been started for at least 25 years. I’m working on it for a friend. Garage kept. My guess is a carb rebuild, top end with a cylinder wall cleaning, spark plug, tranny oil change, bearing grease...
Any other suggestions you all have? I live in Roanoke VA so any jetting suggestions would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like a good start on the bike. If it's low hours change the tranny oil, put some 2 stroke oil in the plug hole and a bit in below the reed cage and cycle the piston by hand a bunch, then do a compression check before tearing the top end apart. Definitely need a carb clean and go through all the bearings.

Welcome to kdxrider.
What do YOU mean by cylinder wall cleaning? In stock form, it has the Kawasaki Electrofusion coating. DO NOT hone an Electrofusion cylinder.
Try to clean the carb before searching for a "rebuild kit".
Go buy a new air filter if the current one is that old.
Check it out before you kick it and start sending chunks through the carb and reeds into the engine as it disintegrates.

I'd get the rear wheel off the ground and try some side-to-side and up-and-down clunk-age checking on the swingarm and linkage.
My bikes have all had those dog-bone bushings way worn out.
There's a few grease zerks to help prevent this back there FWIW..

Intake boot is available on Ebay from a brand called Hot Foot Moto iirc. You can also buy from Jeff Fredette Racing (google it, his website should come up), but it's the same brand. I bought mine off Ebay, but haven't installed it yet.
Some other parts are still available from Kawasaki. It all depends on what you need.

Those are available from Offroad innovation.
Might as well replace the carb boot too. That’ll set you back about 75 bucks
