Hello all! As some of you on this forum know, Im looking to rebuild a few of my 1985 KDX 200 engines. I am highly considering doing a special order from Wiesco. Ive heard a rough estimate that you need to order 10 in order for them to make them. I understand this will cost a lot, probably around $2k-$3k if I had to guess. I would probably keep 4-5 of them for myself. I am just curious if people would be interested in buying them if I make the order. I wouldnt want to be stuck with so many extra pistons...

I still have to make the call and get a real estimate...but I am trying to make my life a lot easier, and hopefully help out some other people as well. So if youre interested, or have gone this route before, please let me know.

gone for the day...

I think it is a minimum of 12. They USED to make a piston for 1983 - 1985, so I hope they can just go get the old mold / materials / whatever instead of having to make a new one.

I don't have a need for one myself, but it would be great to have that option for those who want them.

If this guy is leaving some room for him to make a profit, then no way it is REALLY expensive. He is selling four for $620, which is $155 each. That is not too bad compared to eBay NOS prices.

EDIT ADD ON: Another place had a pair of Honda pistons custom Wiseco for $350.

EDIT AGAIN: Did you try the Wossner??

Hey sorry for such a late reply. Ive been super busy and forgot about this. I honestly dont think I have the technically ability to fill in everything on the special order Wossner form. Do you think I should fill out the Wiseco form or call them?

I would just call and ask. Years ago, they used to make one for the 1983 - 1985 KDX200. Maybe they did not throw the mold or die or parts (whatever they have) and can just make some more without a bid deal.

Look around on this forum. Someone showed a Wossner piston inside the bore with the pin not fully being shown. I would buy a Wossner and check the fit before buying 12 Wisecos.

I chatted with a Wiseco employee. He said they didn't have any of the specifications of the old piston design, so it would be a normal custom order. A minimum order of 12 is required.

https://www.off-roadinnovation.com/?page=home , this is from targetman's winter build thread, if you enter "kdx" in the site's search engine you get 2 options for ART piston kits. and carb rebuild kits, I haven't tried to order them, just thought it might help those looking for 83-85 pistons, etc.
