KDX 200e2 ac voltage

Post by mgoode180566 »

I have 3 wires coming out of the magneto. Is the yellow from the lighting coil ? Is the neagtive side to earth ?

I have measured the voltage from yellow to earth but nothing registers. Has my lighting coil failed ?

Thanks

Yellow should be lighting. If your lights weren’t working, that could be a sign for starters. Beyond that, you should read around 1 ohm from the yellow wire to ground. No reading may indicate that your lighting coil may be no good.

Yellow wire is the lighting output (ac voltage) and the frame/engine is the ground. Measured prior to the light switch you should see voltage between the black and the yellow wire. resistance between the yellow and black wires should be 1.6-2.4 ohms. Go through the bike and check all the grounds well, especially the one under the tank where the coil mounts.
