Comparing E series kdx 200 usdm model with kdx 200SR

Post by ubareddition »

I'm looking for specific information about the kdx 200sr model. I want to compare the differences between the 2.
I have 2 E-series kdx's. A 94' and a 91'. I'm intrested in the differences because I feel the 200sr model was more suited for on/off road than the US models. I hear they have 2 lighting coils, oil injection, battery racks, luggage racks, run on DC voltage, have blinkers and all that jazz. Is it true they make more power/have a bigger bore?

I would like to see pictures so I can SEE how they are different. I feel if I could source some parts from these sr models I could build a really cool dual sport here in the states. Thanks in advance.

Comparing E series kdx 200 usdm model with kdx 200SR

They also have a steel gas tank.

From what I understand(which is very limited on the SR) they are actually de tuned a little compared to the E. But don't quote me on that. Here's a link I found:

I think you might be better off with the Tusk Dual Sport conversion. There was a thread on here that someone did on installing it on their bike.

The wiring and such I can source here in the states. I'm more intrested in where they put the battery. What the gauge cluster looks like what kind of sensors does it have. is the engine/carb different to accommodate oil injection.

I did find a thread on another forum talking about it a little. But no pictures anywhere.

Trying to keep this tread alive. Anyone from across the pond that can shed some light on this?

Check out the SR model links here:http://www.kdxrider.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=90
The major differences between the E series and the SR are the carburetor (28mm on the SR, 35mm on the E) and the internal gearbox ratios (see here for gearbox info:http://www.kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopi ... 90&t=10878
Also the SR has a 19" rear wheel.

no battery on the sr either..runs lights and indicators without one.
feels a bit doey all over compared to the straight kdx, still a capable bike with great low end torque

Also has a sprocket ratio of 14/45 v's the E model's 13/47. There is some talk of different ignition timing also but I cant verify that.
Popular mod is an E series air box, lectron 36 and fmf/dg pipe to keep up with the E model
