Anyone care to explain the function of the resonator KIPS cover? And why there's a second port going to the LH powervalve inside??

The biggest part of a good weld and even more so on aluminum is to make it CLEAN. When you think it is clean enough you are probably about half way there. Aluminum is very porus so you may even need to clean the crack with some acid to get all the crap out. But a weld should be very doable. Nice job finding the issue and +1 with Bufftester.

And here's the the fine work of a local $50/hr welder. The guy I usually go to was apparently transferred to the North pole until the 18th on a project...

He said while he was welding the crack, another crack split above it....and welded that too :doh: :bravo: ...The weld did the job and no longer leaks anyways. See if it makes it through a season.
