EK00385 is the eiko pn. You can also look up H6M bulbs and find them for $10+

I am reviving this post. Pictures to come. If you look back you will see that a friend of mine bought a clapped out KDX with a sweet exhaust pipe. Ahem. My new to me sweet exhaust pipe. So I went from my stock pipe and a DG silencer to a FMF Gold series. Pipe and silencer. I definitely have more power. However the power is not linear. I will be jetting the bike and adjusting the carb. I am gonna use this old post to kinda track the progress as I go. Good to see you all again.

Just a thought. Anyone else running my set up that would like to share their ideal carb setting. Jet size. Clip position. A picture of the air box. Not interested in telling me to get a main jet between 152-158 and a pilot jet between 42-48. What works on your bike with this set up. Right now that you road in the last month at about 4oo ft above sea level. Best full throttle range.

It’s been a while! Last post was back in 2017, and unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to ride over these past six years. My KDX has mostly sat unused since 2018. The good news? I still have it! Last night, I finally got it out, and it fired up on the second kick—although it’s running rough. It idles fine but has a serious throttle stumble. After pulling the carb, I’m thinking it might be too worn out, so I’m considering a clone replacement. "Already have one"
The intake manifold has some dry cracking that looks surface-level, so I’ll coat it just to be safe. I also took out the reed valve cage and noticed light shining through—so instead of just replacing the reeds, I went with a VForce3 upgrade.
My riding area’s seen better days, too, and needs clearing. Camping areas need rebuilding. I’ll use this thread to track the bike’s revival, post trail updates, and share photos/videos of the progress.

I'd highly suggest going with a genuine Keihin replacement. The clone/forgery quality and metering precision or lack thereof is all over the place.
Octo777 has a Lectron Billetron Pro Series carb, cable, & throttle assembly for sale, as he's bought a new Beta 300 & put his KDX back to stock to sell.
I might buy it, but not pressed for a 2nd one as I have a 34mm Lectron and an RB 36mm PWK35 Air Striker as well, and currently only two KDX's.
James Zichelle also had a 34mm Lectron Legacy Power Jet carb for sale. Great upgrades, genuine Keihin PWK35 Air Striker or either Lectron generation. The Billetron Pro Series is the easiest to tune with 1 main internal adjustment and two externally adjustable jets.

I disagree with the idea that all affordable carbs are bad. That may have been true ten years ago, but today, there are solid carburetors out there that don’t cost $500. There’s junk to avoid, but I already own this one, so I’m going to give it a shot. Maybe ill get lucky.
On a similar note, I recently picked up an ’07 Suzuki DR200 and couldn’t believe how sluggish it was. Saw a YouTube tip to change the carb, so I swapped in a Nibbi 28mm, and it’s been night and day! I am going to flip this bike or try to trade it for a 2 stroke 125, but someone will have the fastest DR200 in Pennsylvania.
I knew I was gonna get crap for the clone carb. May Kippa prove you wrong. LOL Either way ill keep you posted. If it sucks ill admit defeat and pony up for a name brand.

That's not my idea necessarily, as *some* do come out with *good enough* tolerances and perform significantly better than a worn out OEM carb, but like the fake Lectron carbs, they may cosmetically be a clone, but some fundamental build areas are nothing like the proper original design.Bmarc1111 wrote: 11:38 am Oct 30 2024 I disagree with the idea that all affordable carbs are bad. Jetting is also far from Keihin specs, and the needles should be tossed aside and replaced with genuine Keihin needles and jets for having a chance at achieving predictable successful results when jetting and tuning the fake clones.
For longevity, an actual name brand, even the innovative Chinese (but high end) XTNG brand metering rod carbs will be far better overall than a clone/forgery, as the no name brands don't really have a name brand to uphold... There's no consequences for them putting out a carb with iffy tolerances & made of subpar viton and brass / pot metal alloys...
FYI The XTNG don't even come close to clearing an H-Series KDX frame shock crossmember, but mat fit an E-Series, 91-94 KDX 250, & C-Series 200.

I’m planning to go with all Keihin jetting and already have most sizes on hand. The first time I built this bike, jetting was the biggest headache by far. I chased issues forever, ordering jets a few at a time as I troubleshot—Jet R Us must have loved me for it, with all the extra shipping costs I racked up. Live and learn.
Thinking of starting with a 45 pilot and a 158 main, but I’m open to other suggestions. I'll get pictures up later. Whats a good build without some visuals?

If it pretty much sat for 6 years, did you take the carb off and clean it and the fuel tank? I would assume some tiny passages are semi clogged.

I installed the Kippa clone carb tonight, and the bike fired up on the 6th kick. It’s running strong so far, and I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. My stock carb was clean (thanks to the ultrasonic cleaner), but it was always a bit finicky. I could get it close—rideable, but never quite perfect. Tonight, though, it felt better than I remember. It could be the new carb or the V-Force3 Reeds I also installed. Either way, it sounds solid for now.
