MX School - well worth it

Post by Goat »

6 hours / JR arena cross style track
95% rider / 5% bike (I’m a believer) The coach could demonstrate every technique on any bike he pulled out of the crowd 65cc-250cc.
I really felt it was money well spent. And believe I am at least $125 faster than I was before.
We did: Berm comers, flat corners, rhythm section, table top, doubles and triples (for the more advanced kids).
If you don’t mind being just a little older than the rest of the class, I highly recommend it.
I coached baseball for 10-yrs from 8yo-HS, and had to smirk when the coach had some words for me that I have heard almost verbatim a thousand times from good hitting coaches:

"You know you can’t jump that first one. So chop at the top and use it to set up the next one you can jump. Get a plan. We aren’t here to just jump everything because it’s there.”

My biggest single take away was to carry corner speed you have to lean, not steer. And you have to carry speed with you, not break traction all the time try to get it. Hoping this will carry over well to riding faster in the woods when I am keeping up with the better riders.

I’ve always felt there was a lot of benefit and progress by taking professional instruction. Learn do do it right! Sounds like a good investment.

Thanks Doakley. Hope you are healing well!
I have first race (Cowbell Enduro) penciled in for Sunday. Trying to get any last minute help I can squeeze in.
You might like this.
When we were doing flat corners, the coach advised we were “flat-tracking it”. And of course he could slide it nicely even with knobs.
I piped up that he looked just like Mert Lawwill.
..... blank stares all around, even from the parents.

I’ve wanted to power slide like Mert, since I was 10-yo.
