KX-DX cookbook part 5

Carb/air box
Oh I used a KDX throttle and clutch cable by the way and used KX controls but the KDX controls will work just as well. Again I started with nothing.

Guess what the 00-02 air box works quite well and does not need modification. If you use a 99 frame I think you’ll need an older air box (like 94) or modify the air box to fit. One way is to remove the boot, put an aluminum plate there, use the KDX boot which is a lot smaller, line it up, mark it and cut a hole I the plate for the KDX boot. Then prime it, paint it and mount the boot. A KX/KDX hybrid air box is a good bet. If you have a 00-02 frame a 00-02 air box will line up. What I did was to use the KDX clamps and the KX air box and boot. You can see the rear head stay was removed in these pictures below.

Test fit it all again then have the frame refinished.

Brakes/Radiators:
Almost done! The brakes were the same from 97-02 so any brake on EBay will do. I paid less than $150 for both front and rear brake setups. You will need KX radiators btw. 99-02. No difference.
