I bought a used head off eBay that turned out to be an E model head with the head stay cut off. Part of the coolant elbow on top is ground down. It looks like the guy wanted clearance. He had some parts from a hybrid he was parting out, but I did not realize what I was buying.

What would the E model engine have gone into that it needed the head stay cut off and grinding done?

Pretty much most hybrid builds do not make use of the headstay.

Had to take it off on my 90 kx hybrid

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I just need to sell it. I don't see myself building an E hybrid.
