Hybrid builders: community reamer now available
Skippypinecone contacted me and the bits are already in the mail. Talk about service. This is no joke or fuss. I've only had the kx for 2 days!
Happy 4th of July everyone.
Thanks Darrell

Hybrid builders: community reamer now available
Hi, new member here. I am collecting parts for my hybrid build. So far I have an 03 220R and an 04 KX125. I am interested in borrowing the drills and reamer. I was wondering if they are still available?
I am also wondering if G.V. California happens to be Grass Valley, California? Because that is where I live.
Robert

That's where I live, let me know when you are ready and I can get the tools to you. Also have lots of parts and pictures.

Nice! What are the odds? I am hoping to get started on it very soon, maybe this weekend.skippypinecone wrote:That's where I live, let me know when you are ready and I can get the tools to you. Also have lots of parts and pictures.

I am going to begin my project this weekend. If you can call me, I would like to borrow the drills and reamer. And maybe get some tips from someone who has BTDT. Robert. (530) 277-5712

Re: Hybrid builders: community reamer now available
Are the community bits and reamer still available? Still in good shape after all this time? If so, I would be interested in borrowing them at the earliest convenience.
I always like to buy tools when I need them (can never have enough tools right?). I was going to buy the bits and reamer myself, but I am not finding any good deals anywhere. The cheapest bits I can find around 30 bucks a piece and the reamers are around 60 bucks or more.
I did have a question however, what is the method that most people are using to drill and ream the case? Hand drilling I would assume? Any tips on securing/clamping the motor while drilling? I was thinking about ratchet strapping it down to my bench? And, are these bits long enough to drill all the way thru from one side? Or are most people drilling one side, then turning the motor around and drilling the other side?
I plan to drill my motor in the next 2 weeks, just trying to gather as much info as possible before then and have everything I need. Thanks in advance!

Never got them back from the last borrower, will try to call him on the phone, he has not answered p.m. I sent. Looks like he has had them for about 6 months. Will get back to you when tools are recovered

Re: Hybrid builders: community reamer now available
I was getting antsy so I sent Robert a text last night to ask about the tools. Nice guy, looks like his hybrid turned out nicely for him. He said he would get in touch with you, Skippypinecone, and get the drill bits returned. Just let me know what you need from me and how much you need for shipping. My e-mail address is tyl3rlyon@gmail.com
Much appreciated!

Re: Hybrid builders: community reamer now available
Wanted to get the work done on my bike next week, so I ended up just ordering everything I needed from Machine Shop Discount Supply. Total was only $53.04 shipped to my door.
If anyone else was interested in ordering tooling for themselves, this place was the cheapest that I found (it is where Skippypinecone said he originally ordered the reamer). The part numbers and prices that I ordered are as follows (I ordered imported drill bits for a lower cost, American made bits are available at twice the cost...isn't that a shame?):
Order # Product Unit Price Quantity Total Price
8600170 17.0mm / 87mm LOC / 175mm OAL / Straight Flute $29.95 1 $29.95
1100040 5/8" HS S & D DRILLS-1/2SK $5.82 1 $5.82
1100042 21/32" HS S & D DRILLS-1/2SK $6.32 1 $6.32

I'd like to use the community reamer of its available. Or pay for shipping for anyone willing to let me barrow one.
