1991 KX250 Good for a KDX motor swap?

I have a 1991 Kawasaki KX250 the motor is good in it now, but its a trails only bike. I think a KDX motor would be a fun swap. Has anyone done it in one of these frames? I have a welder so thats not too much of a problem.

Should be a piece of cake. You'll have all the room you need. What's the donor KDX? Have you got the motor already? It'd be good to have a complete bike, or as complete as possible, as the donor. You never know what other KDX bits you'll end up needing...

I have nothing yet from the KDX. The KX is a complete usable bike. I'm probably going to look for the motor on ebay or w/e I can get a good deal on it. One that needs to be rebuilt most likely. I want the motor that is in the newer KDX's like the 2001's. What years should i look at? Is it worth getting a 220 over a 200?
