On 5/31/07 at 11:28 AM CST I brought my head and carb to the post office in Theodore, AL

On 6/6/07 I planned to send Mr. Black a note to confirm he had recieved my head and carb, NOT press for delivery.

Guess what I found on my kitchen table when I got home from work last night? A shiny reworked carb and a spiffy looking head. :supz:

The Theodore Postmaster must have really laid into his mule train.

Now if I can just get PrimateButtocks.Com to deliver the parts i ordered on 5/31. FedEX says they are due for delivery today.

Top notch work from RB designs.

All righty, then.....

Installed:
New wiseco piston and rings and wrist pin and bearing
Boyeson 607 reeds
RB modified carb
RB modified head

Gave it a test last night at 10:30 pm, just around the back 40 for ten minutes or so. I've got some thermal cycles to get through.

It certainly sounds different and definately is more reponsive off idle, low to mid rpm. It did not want to come up on the pipe, but I didn't push it either. Crappy headlight, neighbors and all that.

Stay tuned for a full report Monday, 6/11/07.

All right, a good experience to share with people dumb as me:

I could not get this bike to GO. I ended up using a 140 main just to get it to run clean on the pipe.

I sent Ron an e-mail on Saturday, and talked to him twice Sunday afternoon.

To make a long (and funny) story short, what I found was that my spark arrestor was plugged.

I'm using the stock one and have never given it much thought. Considering how this bike is hauling BUTT right now, I'd say it has been slowly plugging up for years. I put the one off my $98 special on and that was all it took.

Thanks to Ron for calling, answering when I called back, and taking the time to reason through this.
