I can offer another "plug" for Ron. He set the squish and the compression ratio (for AV gas) on both of our CR250s. Made a world of difference in jetting consistency and helped performance.

I've never had him work a motorcycle carb but he's done 9 boat motor carbs for me (I race outboard hydroplanes). First class work every time.

Another big thumbs up to Ron :supz:

Sent him a #5 slide on Monday and received the slide cut to a #7 on Saturday. I live in GA. Ron must have cut the slide and got it back in the mail the same day to get it back that fast.

And of course the work is top notch.

The #6 slide I had been using is on the left, the recut #7 slide is on right.

I'm headed to Odessa, Washington tomorrow for the Stump Jumper Desert 100 race. I was going to send RB my head and carb while I was down but see he doesn't do international shipping. A few people on here have offered to be a middle man for outside US shipping. It'd be great if someone could receive these parts from RB and re-direct them to me in Canada via USPS.

Can anyone help me out?

Cory

Why not try www.bongous.com? I use them for any items I can't get shipped to Canada from the U.S. via the "normal" shipping methods.

I had Ron do my head and carb mod for my 2001 220R. I have been riding it for a few months in varied terrains and love what it has done for it! I must say it was money well spent, turnaround time was fast and boy does she run like a wild banshee! I do have the woods torque pipe on and would love to try the other REV pipe to see how the top end would be effected and what changes would happen to the bottom end. I ride mostly tight woods stuff but have been hitting a few places where I top out the power curve a little before I would like it to taper off.

Maybe I should get the Rev pipe and swap out depending where I am going...anyone out there do that? How is the bottom end when you put the Rev pipe on? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm running a PC pipe on my 05 220 as I thought the rev pipe was too much top end.
My opinion , You still have a ton of bottom and gain alot of midrange / top.

I havn't RB'd the head yet but it's on this winter's list of to do's.

REV pipe is to a 220 what a woods pipe is to a 200.

We put the same PC pipe on the 200 this summer and it makes the bike have more
a little more top wo hurting the bottom . A very good overall power pipe.

Is Ron Black still doing machine work ??

Just another satisfied customer of RB. Sent him the money order for the KDX-KX spacer last Saturday. Got the part yesterday. I'd say that is pretty quick since we are on opposite coasts! Beautiful piece of work as well!

I have apolajised to Ron because when his modified head arrived I thought the 220 pistons were flat tops and I questioned why such a wide squish. Now that see my error I measured it and it's spot on. Look forward to testing.
Thanks Ron love your work.

Going for my Necro post level up... :boogie:

Last week had RB design wave his magic on the carb and head of my '00 220R, stopped by his shop this week and picked up the completed carb and head. First rate craftsmanship and customer service, he went above and beyond to help me sort out a KIPS issue I was having as well. Ron genuinely enjoys the work he does and is dedicated to making sure the customer gets the most out of the mods he performs.

Thank you Ron.

Noticed these threads are a bit old. Maybe I got in the kdx game a little late, but, I'm 55 so better late than never! I'll be lurking and searching.!!

I'm looking to replace the original carb on my '89 kdx200. Just can't seem to get the jetting dialed in and heard the slides on the E1's wear out faster than newer models. I've sent a couple emails asking about availability of new carbs but haven't heard back. His website says taking some time off. Hoping I haven't missed out.

I am in the same boat as you. I sent an email months ago with no reply. Hope he is okay. My plan B is jetsrus or Lectron.

I understand you were looking for a carb but maybe this exchange will give you a little(some) insight?

I sent this e mail to Ron in October:

Are you taking new work? Iā€™m looking to have my head mod done in the next couple weeks.
Thanks,
