200 and 220s alike, it doesn't matter. It just to get a rough idea...

Well you see Mr Montgomeron, I have voted in the poll and if you notice I stated
I now have a 48, a 49 and a 50 for the rear and a 12 and 13 for the front so its a bit hard to say really. I have run 13/49 mostly but hardly ever hit 5th or 6th gear so I wanted to see how low people are actually going.
and what I use IS in the poll. Mkay ?!?If you use something not in the poll please specify.

13 / 49
Where I ride and race its tight mostly because land is getting scarcer.
This gearing turns the KDX into more of a Buzz bomb that the reviews gave it a decade ago.
When I do get out into the open and go through the gears
Whaa,whaa,whaa,wha....I look down at my speedo as i just tapped into 4th and it says 29 mph !?!

I'm going to be trying a 12/49 combo. Instead of the 12/47. I am thinking this will give me a bit better power spread down below. 3rd is either too much or not enough. SO this should get me closer to having my cake & eating it.

I know this is an old post but I wanted to comment since I am a NooB here... Don't beat me up on this.. I am trying to learn as much as possible.
My KDX 220 has a 12/47 setup. This is how I bought it. For me 1st and 2nd gear are so low that even on real tight trails, I would be running at least 3rd gear since the 220 has such good low end torque. But then any kind of straight sections the bike would be done at 45-50mph.
I have the stock 13T sprocket and have a 14T on order just to see what the difference is.
Is the reason everyone likes such low gearing so that you could use 1st and 2nd when you get stuck and 3rd - 6th for normal woods riding? Basically giving up speed on the straight sections for wide range of gearing and speed at low speed?
Most of the HS tracks here have a few sections of fast straight trail I'd get smoked on with my current gearing.
I know I know... beat them in the woods and let them try to catch ya in the straights, right?
BTW, My KDX is now street LEGAL baby...

One tooth = 3 on the rear... you are way wrong on the 14T
13/47 works OK.
