I can E-Mail you a file , if you like. Just watched a couple minutes and the picture quality (IMO) is much better than the go pro....but I don't own a go pro so it's slightly biased.

The video looks on par with the GP and Contours, may have to keep an eye out for one of those, need a new kiteboarding/Kayaking camera. That downhill section at the beginning of your vid I beefed hard on this year, sure wich it would have rained a bit to keep the dust down, but then thats the Ironman. lol

Best Action Camera

Post by bufftester »

Well, if you are shopping for a helmet cam, might find some good deals on the Contour line:

Seems they gave up, pretty much leaves GoPro in the drivers seat now, expect prices to climb.

you know buffy, I actually did order a contour
the person I ordered it from shipped me the wrong thing (one with a case that is waterproof up to 60 meter...I try to avoid mudholes that deep) the seller was going to give me a partial refund so I could buy the proper mounts but when I tried to format the SD card it wouldn't work
at all

so, im returning it and buying another one (from a different vendor since she only has the watersports version in stock)

anyone know anything about the liquid image goggles?

The SD cards have to be the high speed opes to work right, but given the latest news I think I'd just return it and get something else, the Swann Freestyle 1080p looks interesting. Have seen the Liquid Image goggles, but haven't seen video from them

it was a 32 GB SDHC class 10 card
that's as speedy as it gets no?

I also tried an older 2GB card (unsure of the specifics) and same issues

on the drift, it only goes up to 720P ?
is that decent ?
(keep hearing about 1080P and what not)

if nothing else, maybe they could sell the contour case design to GP and make a really great cam. I usually shoot everything in 720p as I just view it on my computer and share on FB, file sizes get a bit larger at 1080p. The new Drift looks nice, but at 400$ is just as much as the GP (though I do like their case design better) honestly, whatever one you get will be fine until you finally fall and break it. My last helmet cam before the GP/Contour was a VioSport 2+ that had a separate battery pack and had to be plugged into a DVR or video cam, and only shot in like 1024/768, and I rode the sh#t out of that unit (still have it as a back up or for riding partners that don't have one.)

I have never owned a Drift so I can't help. If it's not the drivers on the computer, then the file structure must be getting corrupted somehow. I'd have stuck with a replacement Roam but if it is freezing up likely your only recourse is replacement.

It saves the movies in .MOV format you have to download quicktime from apple or equivalent movie player windows media player wont play them

VLC is good too for some reason all I could think of was quicktime

I think it may not like the cheap Chinese SD card I put in there
I reset the whole thing and it seems to work on my 2 GB sandisk card but NOT on the 32 GB chinacard

when it does work the videos will play in anything, windows media player, quicktime or VLC

I thought of getting another roam but the person I bought it from only had the watersports packaged roam and with the company going belly up I wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with that

so on a side note, if anyone needs a gogglemount for the roam hit me up, ill let mine go at cost :shh:
