Hey Guys,
I found this tip in the forums somewhere and though I would give it a go as its impossible to find boots for my 87 KDX.
Bought a can for $30 from autobarn and had some great results.
The cracks that were once showing are now completely covered and the stuff is pretty strong and flexible once set.
I gave it 4 coats and had plenty left over.
The only thing I would had done differently is cover the holes for the screws before spraying.
One of bolts got snagged going in, but it did show off how flexible and strong the stuff is :)

Re: Plasti Dip
The real test will be how it holds up to fuel. The evaporating hydrocarbons may migrate through the cracks and eat right through the plasti dip. Or it may be very fuel resistant, I've never looked into it.

Re: Plasti Dip
I used this on the boots when I rebuilt my 87 model and it has held up perfectly for over a year. However, mine only had surface cracks and nothing that went all the way through so I can't say how well it would hold up to fuel.

Small tip when working with Plasti-Dip, as soon as you finish spraying your final coat, remove any masking immediately. Waiting until it dries will cause you to pull up the edges, and make things much harder, when removing it which you don't want

I did this same trick with my '87. I probably have 20 hours ride time with no problems whatsoever. My airbox boot did have through-and-through cracking, and the Plasti Dip has worked great.
