Jets, Needles, and Gnarly pipe

I’m sure this question has been asked over a million times, but I have gotten mixed answers in search results... If I put a gnarly pipe and powercore on my H series silencer, will I need to jet the carb? If so can someone direct me to the correct jet kit to buy? I was under the impression anytime you change up your exhaust system the carb needs jetted, but on the Fredette website it specifically states these modifications do not require jetting.

Is it perfectly jetted now?

Like KDXGarage mentioned, is it perfectly jetted now? If it is, then what Fredette said will work fine on the KDX. However, I bet your jetting isn't spot on and there is no jet kit that will get your bike jetting dialed in from just a set of parameters. You have to go through the proper steps to get your jetting right. We have the jetting guide pinned in this subforum so that it is easy to find. I strongly suggest following the steps listed in it to have the strongest running KDX possible.

Yeah what jets are even in it? How are you going to know if it's jetted properly?

Everything on the bike is currently 100% OEM stock. It runs and has the powerband that it should. I appreciate the replies!

Throw the new exhaust on and go from there. Start at the pilot and work your way up. There may be a little hidden performance hidden in there for you to find. Generally, one can buy a few jets and get much of the testing done. Moving the needle clip will be another way to test.

Stock I think the KDX was jetted super rich, was it not? You'll pick up gains everywhere by jetting ti for your mods and where you ride. Ditch the airbox cover while you're at it.

I agree! Lot's of hidden power there just waiting to be released!

Airbox was thrown out as soon as I got the bike. I never touched the carb because it has ran great and I didn’t want to chance making run worse because I haven’t had much experience with older bikes that are carbed 😬
