Indawoods Bible Query - correct for RB PJ?

Do I just follow the normal Indawoods Bible for jetting steps to verify I am baselined at the right PJ for RB Carb?

I am not sure if the new RB low end circuitry negates or changes the normal (1-2.5 turns, fast idle) approach to verifying the correct PJ size is installed.

My new RB makes the bike a powerhouse. But on first couple starts and short test rides, it seems to put out more smoke than I think it should.
Ron included some extra jets with the purchase so it would be fairly easy to give them a try.

Thank you.

IIRC the RB mod starts at 7/8 turn out and then you do 1/8 or 1/16 turns, but basically the same process. The low speed mods are supposed to make the AS more sensitive. They used to send out a tuning sheet with instructions and all the jet info. Someone who owns and runs one will stop by and correct me.

Thank you Buff
I did rx the instruction sheet from RB for tuning from the 7/8 position.
I should really do that meticulously, and then see if I still have a smoke concern, before jumping to any conclusion about jet size.
Duh!

Hi Buff, I had tried to use the idle screw and think I had the slide so far up that it was screwing up the low speed ckt, so it was loading up every time i let it sit & idle.
Once I backed it off for no idle like the MX guys do, everything worked great. Low smoke, hardly any sponge... 2nd kick start on cold bike.
I will have to play with it a bit to see if there’s an idle setting that works or not, but I am happy.
The only place I noticed an issue for not having idle was on nasty downhills.
If I worried too much about crashing I could forget to keep a little throttle and she could die while I was clutching to keep some drag.

I think the no idle for MX guys was before they had power valves and reeds. Interesting that it cleaned up the spooge.

I got the no idle idea from one of the other 2T forums and found it again in this pdf. So thought what the heck.

Riding with no idle setting was interesting and I think I kinda like it (seems the bike runs cleaner and starts even better).
If you experiment with it, please let me know what you think.

KDX's are meant to idle. If it won't idle correctly then something is wrong.

Thanks for confirming.
I will keep playing with it, as that is what I expected.
I do like the idea that I may have stumbled onto the logical source of my spooge.

Incorrect jetting is the source of all splooge. When it's rich, the larger charge has proportionately more oil which is not burned in the combustion process completely and comes out the tail pipe, and all other unsealed orifices lol.

Ha! Jetting or leaky rings, maybe?
On the other orifice..... do you or others run a rubber band at the pipe to silencer junction?
And can you please remind me who has the snazzy KDX fender stickers?

Goat, do you have the rubber cover over the junction?

JulienD may have some kdxrider.net stickers.

I don’t have the rubber pipe clamp looking thing over the junction. (My bike came with woods pipe held on by a zip tie & safety wire.)
Didn’t know if others like to install the rubber clamp at the joint.

I think most everyone runs the stock part. (rubber tube thing)
