Need help revalving my KX250 Forks (2001)

Hey guys Im finally in the process of getting settled and was wondering if anyone out there has some basic settings, (shims etc) for these forks and if they would be willing to share. Im not looking for perfection here, just want them to be more trail friendly. There were some lengthy posts about the shim stacks but Im having trouble finding them. I have another bike that has excellent suspension so I just want my KDX to be a bit more off road friendly. Also if there's any info on shortening them, please let me know.

I am aware there is a ton of info here. I have read thru almost every post, but I am still a little apprehensive about diving into them. Im not looking for someone to do my "homework", just some shortcuts or tips to make them better. Of course Im also on a budget so sending them to a tuner isn't an option. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had these forks apart and is using a "good" setup for the woods.

Thanks to the group for all your help!

Search for info on replacing the o-ring with a spring on the midvalve.

I once helped a friend with his. There may be some posts from 2006 or so on his 2001 KX125 forks. I took a few shims from the base valve and midvalve. He was happy. Also, check on what current measurement of "float" people are happy with. I set his at 0.4 mm I think.

Thanks guys. The float was done at .5mm. The bladders were not in there when taken apart. Without going crazy and realizing what they are, looking for some shim stack solutions. I will search as per your suggestions. Thanks.

I took the bladders out of them on his forks. Adjust oil level accordingly.

The main thing is to go softer on the base valve. Remember, fewer shims / thinner shims = less damping.
