Kdx220 fork spring size

Post by kdxdazz »

Finally got my donor drz400e forks open to take a look at the spring, it measures 510mm long by 43mm in diameter, what are the size of kdx springs in comparison, I want to use my 0.32kg springs from the kdx in my drz forks. Also in the photo is a Yz125 spring which measures 460mm. Is it possible to use a 70mm spacer to make up for this distance.

I think KDX springs are about 35.8 mm OD. ... OK, I went to Race Tech, and here is what their aftermarket spring are. I must have been remembering their number.

35.8x472

That's a huge difference, don't think it's wise to use the kdx spring given that conventionals don't use a spring guide and than that outer tube us the spring guide. Yz125 spring measures 41.3mm which is fairly close, how does my spacer idea sound

Why 70 mm spacer to make up 50 mm difference?

Are you wanting to put the YZ spring in the DR-Z forks? 50 mm sounds like too much of a difference.

60mm of difference between the drz and YZ spring then 10mm preload
