01 kx fork spring interchange

Post by Malibu406 »

Not sure if this has been covered as my search didnt work out so well.

I have 01 kx forks on my 05 kdx220 that I detailed in another post. I would prefer not to spend $120 on fork springs. Does anyone have a list of springs that interchange?

Here are some I think do interchange
96 - 01 Cr500 98-01 Cr125; 51401-kz4-j01(.39kg), 51401-mac-781(.41kg), 51403-mac-741(.43kg)

99-01 kx125/250; 44026-1691(.44kg), 1692(.45kg), 1690/1709(.43kg), 1599(.40kg), 1707(.41kg), 1712(.42kg)

Racetech frsp 4147 series or srsp 6228
Factory connection???
Eibach???
Patriot???

If you have any more, I can add. I know at least 2 years for rm250 are same but need to find it again.

Yes I am wasting allot of time vs money, but time is free.

Thx

SRSP 6228 is a shock spring.

Look on eBay for 4147 springs.

I assume Eibach used to make some years ago. I don't think they make that model now.

I have never heard of Patriot brand springs.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your weight in full riding gear, water backpack, tools, spare parts, extra fuel, etc.?

Yes, 6228 is a shock spring. I will go back and get the alternate eibach springs from racetech, but I believe eibach own literature is different numbering like 915.025.001 as just an example.

Im about 235 loaded. See I see allot of used .44 and .46kg springs out there, but not for kx250 99-01. I see them for yz’s, cr’s, and rm’s which all had 46mm at one time. Some, like the cr500 I believe are the same 41.2 od x 470mm long that i need. Others are same diameter but 461mm long (some rm’s) and some are 480+.

So while buying new may be what I do in the end, I just thought a thread like this could help future people find cheaper used sets. Its sort of a mental exercise at this point! Lol

There are several .43kg cr500 springs out there for instance, cheap. Not .44 or .46.

Thx

.44 / .45 / .46 and 5.4 then

YZ springs in that time frame were about 10 mm shorter. I can't remember the exact length of OEM, but RT was 4146, not 4147.

ALONG time ago, they did sell odd rates.

Some springs do indeed fit multiple bikes.

DRZ 350 and 400 springs are the same size. .38 and .40 I think.
