KX Fork swap triple clamp height

Post by ccain85 »

Hey guys, I just finished completing my fork swap and was wondering how far up in the triple clamps do you have the forks set at?

‘01 KX forks. I like mine @ 17mm. I did have to put short bar risers on to get room, but the adapters to run fatter bars took care of this.

I'm running stock length '06 KX250F Showa forks. I 'm at 20mm above the clamp. That's measured from the clamp to the line were the fork cap screws on. I also have higher than stock handlebar clamps, but not by much, as I had a Scotts damper on their at one time.

ccain85, anyone else in the future...the trick is to measure how high the bike was with the KDX forks, then replicate that.

Maybe someone can measure a stock KDX for you. Not tubeheight, but as in, from the ground, up to the head tube or something like that.
Thank you for participating on kdxrider.net. :bravo:

Yeah, that info would be ideal.

That said, no one can really use my info at all since I don't have the factory rear shock.

I was running them at 18mm but still experimenting. I have the ProTaper mounts and they do rise about 1". I would like to replace the aluminum cones with rubber. I know this was discussed somewhere..

I had my 01 KX250 forks lowered 3/4"
I also run a -1.125" Kouba link so I still had room to play with. A safe bet would be to have them lowered 1/2"
