1994 KX250 upper triple tree - to retain rubber mounts & oversize bars
Small hose clamp on frame stop - works perfect for tank clearance

Looks great! Did the KLX conversion on my 04 a few months back. Really enjoy it and love the updated look.

Are you running the stock springs? Look like you may have had some work done on the forks. Thank you.

I am running stock springs, the suspension guy said my 150lb rider weight would be about right for them. Later this month when we get some better weather I’ll get out for a ride in the desert, but I think it will be fine. I ride reasonably fast on single track, but not so much in the desert south of town. (Nampa Idaho)

looks great just about to do the same conversion can you please give a quick bullet point of the process and what needs changing or engineering. I have the standard KLX300 fork and tipple clamp to start with. thanks

The KLX is a direct bolt on. No mods needed, except the frame stop, as noted above. I purchased a klx front fork assembly complete with brake line, which bolts right up, not sure how you would attach stock kdx brake line. Otherwise you can use all your kdx parts, wheel, brake, headlight, odo, etc. I used a kx500 upper clamp to retain rubber mounted bars, as noted above.

First ride out with KLX fork conversion. I weigh 155lbs in street clothes. We rode some the Rabbit Creek 100 course, which is fairly whooped out in sections. The KLX forks aren’t any stiffer than the stock KDX forks, but seem more planted, and look awesome. After riding some single track, I may need stiffer springs.

Congrats on getting out and testing them. Stock springs are 36 or 38, depending on where you read. That's a touch stiffer than 1995+ KDX (0.35).

Did you try the compression adjusters any? What did you have them set on?

Your KDX looks really nice!

Thanks KDXgarage, the compression is set in the middle, I will try a few more clicks stiffer. I will ride some single track, my usual ride, before I change too much.
